Looking for a nice Hi-Lo <27'

I'm new to this forum and find it to be an incredibly informative site. I have been thinking about buying a Hi-Lo and was sad/reluctant after finding out they were out of business. I then found this site which has a wealth of info about Hi-Lo's with great articles on how to "DIY". I've been looking over all the info I can find and have decided that I'm looking for a 27' or longer T model or Towlite. I need the 6" less width to park the unit on my side yard. I prefer an '03 or newer model as I'd like to have the aluminum framing with laminated fiberglass sides. I'd also prefer the aluminum top as I hear they are easier to fix/maintain. I live in the SF bay area in California. Kudos to Neal and Bev for running an excellent site. Please keep up the good work!!

When I looked at the hi-lo, the plastic door for the fresh water fill was missing. Its an easy replacement, it must have been left open when the top was lowered. Also, the GVWR is 6500 lbs. A full size truck is needed to pull it.

There is another Towlite in Napa, CA 03 22ft. for 15,000 (which I feel is priced to high) Damaged wall panel between dinette and bath. Damaged fender skirting on one side (must have had a tire blow-out) Damaged plastic rain gutter end outlets. All easy repairs.

Les, I'm going to be towing with a 3/4T suburban so weight not an issue. Any thoughts on whether a weight distributing hitch will be required? What do you think about the price on the Napa 27' unit? I looked at it a few weeks ago. It looks like it will need some minor repairs, not very well maintained.

I've used both the reciever hitch and the WDH. It tows really nice with the WDH, which is what I use now. It is also recommended in my owners manual for my 2404T to use the WDH.

I think a weight distributing should be used, it puts the weight on all four wheels and your front end won't feel like its floating. I also use a anti-sway control, even with the low trailer it helps with cross winds. Also, check in this forum about charging the battery while towing with the refrigerator on 12 volt . I wrote up what upgrades I had to do to my truck. I think the price on the 27' is a good price. NADA value priced it at 13,600 to 16,600. The minor repairs are nothing, I have done all the repairs and upgrades on my trailer "since I'm banned from putting anymore holes in the sheetrock in the house after finishing the remodel". For the age of the trailer, its in great shape. Let me know if you have any other questions.
