Smile Should I buy a 1987 Sunchaser?

I am completley new to hi-lo trailers. I have a tent trailer currently and saw an ad for a vintage trailer...perfect restored condition, and I thought it was a bargain at $2300. By the time the seller got back to me, it was already sold. She then told me that she has a hi-lo. Her husband was tragically killed in an auto accident a month ago, and she is selling all her belongings to move back east. This hi lo is a 1987 Sunchaser. She says her husband had just purchased all new tires and they were about to take it cross country before he died. She is asking $2200. She says it is 22feet long and that she pulled it with a kIA Sport. I have a Honda Odyysey that tows up to 3500 pounds.

My question is, can anyone tell me the empty weight of this model trailer?

I haven't been able to find any info on the internet. I'd really appreciate any reply, as I am going to look at the trailer in the morning.

Thanks!

you might be pushing it with a honda, it will destroy your transmission, and if she was pulling it with kia sport, maybe on a flat strip.

Based on the weights of other year 22' trailers before and after that year you will probably find the empty weight to be between 3500 an 3900 pounds and the gross weight to be about 5000 pounds. I think your TV is not going to be a good idea. Sorry,

Default "Sunchaser" LOL

LOL, I went to see the trailer in person, and low and behold it's a "Fun Chaser" not a "sunchaser".....anyway....

I googled 1987 Funchaser specs and apparently a 22ft weighs 3590lbs. (Dry, I'm sure) I called Uhaul, and they can sell and install a new hitch, with weight distribution which can make my van tow up to 5000lbs!! Very cool. Just waiting on a final quote.

I went ahead and bought the trailer. The lady delivered it to my house, and I'm excited, and a little nervous.

For 5 years, I had a 33ft, brand new Minnie Winnie (class C). Got divorced, and downsized to tents. Then, last year I upgraded to a tent trailer, and now this year the hi-lo.

I need to re-upholster the seat/couch cushions, buy new curtains, and little accessories here and there. I'm excited to try it out in May on my second camping trip of the year.

I'm glad I found this forum and look forward to getting helpful tips from everyone. Like how the heck do I bring the awning down, and where can I download (or buy) an owner's manual??

Ok...time to search this site for info.

Thanks to those who replied!!
