1974HiLo Hydraulic Lift Battery Location?

Greetings All! New here and in a bit of a fix. Set up the camper for sleepover and the lift won't engage. Just clicking. I can't find the battery(it must need charging). Anyone know where that might be located? Is there another way to raise the top, perhaps using an external power source? Thank You in advance.

Welcome to the forum! Most batteries are located in the tongue compartment. You should be able to flip it open and attach jumper cables. It's a tight fit but can be done. It sounds like a weak battery may be your problem. Good luck!

OK I didn't notice a tongue compartment in my search. I thought I had poked into every nook and cranny possible. I guess I was too hopeful to think I could just plug in the power to the garage and it would charge up the battery... Thank you for the info. The kids want to sleep in it all squished up, submarine-style. Remember when things like that were an adventure and not a crisis? I REALLY love my HiLo!

Do you have the owners manual? This one is close to your year model. They don't change much between year models.

Check the reference library as well and keep use posted.

Well I recall using the lights on battery power, and I am sure the guy mentioned it recharging itself. This manual confirms my hopes. However, he completely re-wired the trailer and put in all new plumbing, lift cables, foam etc etc.(No complaints-it is wonderful!) The battery is not under any of the bench seats but I KNOW it exists because I have used it! Thank you very much for posting the manual. I may have to go crawling with a flashlight. O well!

It should be very close to the lift motor. And, as was mentioned before, it's probably between the rails in the tongue.

Found Battery!

I found it! Thank you all for your help. Based on the fact there is no such thing as magic, and the switch DID power on weakly...I crawled back in and checked under the front bench seats: nothing. Then I noticed a very small "bulkhead" running along the front of the trailer at floor level under the table. Impossibly small. The lid lifted right off. The battery is located just off centre-line in that narrow trough. Posts easily accessible. I have no idea if this is the manufactures location but it makes sense and frees up a lot of storage. Now I can raise up my camper and start scrubbing. :)
