Loved everything about my 1986 Hi-Lo but was able to upgrade to a2008 if only I could make the trade 1700 miles from home in an early spring cross country drive. Driving, and towing the oldie, I made it to Portland from Minneapolis in 2 1/2 days. The crossing at Lookout Pass in Idaho was near white-out at times but I kept going while the truckers were pulling over to wait. Made the trade and visited some relatives, then a leisurely drive home to test all the features. The best camping at empty campgrounds all the way back. Now I got it back in the corner spot where it sees use, even if only in the driveway. Plans have been made for plenty of adventures this season. Wisconsin river valley in two weeks!

You drove right through here. I love camping this time of year with so many available campgrounds. At least now you can reserve most public campgrounds ahead of time but before I hardly wanted to venture out in July and August and fight for a spot.

I think the 1986 was rated as 500lbs lighter but then again that was when I towed with a 5.4L V8. Now the 2008 has the luxury of an air conditioner, lots of cooling fans, a larger refrigerator, a better awning, larger wheels, and seems there is more storage and I'm towing it with a mighty 6L V10 van with 4 wheel drive. I did like the old timey 86' but I needed to get modern. Other then that they are the same camper.
