After struggling with the relative inaccessability of the grey/black tank drain hose hookup and valves on our 2307C, I'm giving serious consideration to fabricating an access hatch in the street-side rear skirt.

Assuming the skirt material is some form of ABS plastic that can be glued using solvent cement, it should be possible to carefully cut an opening in that panel, hinge it at the top using a stainless steel piano hinge, reinforce the edges with additional ABS material and install a pair of panel latches like the ones used on the forward storage bins .

Curious as to whether anyone else has done something similar.

You have the right idea with carefully cutting out the skirting when you install the stainless steel hinge use stainless steel strips on the back of the skirting with stainless steel pop rivets to sandwhich the skirting together it hold up better
You can also use aluminum and use the same material for door stops and panel locks to lock close
Add a arm to the side of the opening to hold the door open while in use

My 2001 Classic had the “sewer tank dump” door that you are talking about. Go to the forum library and it has a copy of the 2001 pamphlet. It shows the door to give you a better idea. My door was hinged on the bottom so that you don’t have to hold the door open to hook up your sewer hose.

Will have the trailer at home this weekend to work on a couple of LED lighting upgrades and plan to do a couple of glue tests using ABS sheet material and solvent cement. Hopefully, the skirting will react with the cement - if so, it will make the project much easier.

It'll probably be advisable to reinforce the bottom edge of the skirting with diagonal braces from the corners of the skirting next to the hatch inboard to the frame or floor as well, since cutting the access hatch through the rolled-under bottom lip of the skirting will eliminate the structural rigidity in that section.

Interesting - I'll go find that brochure. Wish those parts were still available - would be really nice to be able use factory parts.

I have repaired my skirting and grey and blackwater tanks with fiberglass cloth and ABS cement. Never had a repair fail. The ABS cement can be found in Lowes or HD in the plumbing dept. Clean the repair area good and rough it up with some sandpaper.
