fridge & under bed storage
 

hello! How do I keep the fridge cold when traveling all day? can I run the propane? it says not to.
also, only 1 drawer pulls out from under the couch/bed. seems if both pulled out I'd have more storage.
this will be our 1st trip with our 22ft 2004 Hi-Lo.

Deb, if your trailer tow 7-pin receptacle is wired properly and if you have the necessary fuse (and possibly a circuit breaker) installed in your tow vehicle, you will be delivering a charging voltage to your trailer battery when underway. If so, you SHOULD be able to run the refrigerator on DC battery power while traveling.

But, most of us have discovered the charging circuit doesn't quite keep up with the draw, so you will arrive with a somewhat low battery. It's never been too low for me to raise the top though, and before I installed my solar panels, I'd just put the trailer on my generator when I arrived to recharge the battery.

Can't help with the drawers - don't have them. Maybe the water pump is behind a false drawer front in your trailer.

I learned years ago from seasoned travelers that as long as you provide a little airflow, cracked roof vent and window to help the exhaust, leaving it on propane will keep the refer cooler than 12volt. It's a Liability issue for the RV companies so they tell you not too. I've upgraded this year to a 2600TFB from a 2176B have found that the newer units have fans for the refer to help exhaust the fumes.

For the fridge do as Jack said. If your 22 is like ours, one side is a drawer and the other side is a drop down door that allows you to access the water heater and water pump, and some storage area. The front outside storage door is the front of that area.

I've always ran the fridge on all my trailers including the hilo on propane with no issues. The only inconvenience is stopping ahead of time to turn it off before fueling then relighting it after being down the road aways from the filling station. The fridge has an open flame so that and gas fumes don't mix. Doing that is a must.

thanks for the info. we'll run on the propane. I think our fridge is AC/gas only. pretty hard to power a Fridge on battery. found the drawer was screwed shut. got the bath fan working (bad switch) the 110 working (black toggle switch) the air conditioner working (gray wired needed to be plugged into a very hard to see outlet) . filled water tank, can't get water to flow....got to be a switch somewhere we can't find. It ought to DC. we will be mostly camping on the batteries...replaced lights with leds..

Your water pump has a switch where the monitor panel is. Also, your master switch has to be in the 12 volt position as it would be for using the lights, etc.

we found the water pump switch! and the 110v switch. and the air conditioner plug. this forum is great!!
