Hi Lo (tow lite) 24t 2005
Looking at a used towlite.
Had a few questions Is there room for a air mattress in front of the slide out couch (3rd bed)/ The one I am looking at does not have the drop down bed. Are the hydraulics/ lift really that complicated? I have watched the videos which are well done but still a little concerned. The first unit I looked at had severe side wall deformation and rot all around the slide out seal looks -like someone tried to caulk it up but did a poor job Is this a rare issue or something of concern. I fully realize that campers require on going maintenance which I am prepared for but not a rebuild. This is a great site and thanks to all for all th helpful info. I tow with a ram 2007 turbo 5.9 diesel crew cab 8ft bed. Down sizing from a 29 fifth wheel. ED |
Hey there, I have an 07 24T that I have owned for just under a year, I cant elaborate on the complication of the lift system as I have not had to touch it. But I would say with the couch laid out you could get away with a twin size mattress, not much more. As for the damage around the tip out, mine is perfect and shows no sign of water damage.

Lift system isn't that complicated....a starter motor, a hydraulic cylinder and cables.
I'd keep looking, with "severe sidewall deformation and rot", you could be in for a rebuild. I've not done it, others here have and can shed more light on that topic. Good luck and just keep looking. We spent 5 months looking for the one we eventually bought, and looked at 4-5 abused Hi-Los in the process. Looked at one 28' that was billed as in excellent condition, only to find a tree had fallen across it and there was a crease from that across the top and the top sidewalls were bowed out 6-8 inches on either side. |
Welcome to the forum.
Keep looking for an undamaged unit. They 27 for sale sounds like it is in good shape.

Lift system simple. Pump moves Ram that moves cables that lift top. As long as there is enough fluid ( automatic transmission fluid ) system works.
