HiLo Camper will not raise

I have a 2288L and for some reason I cannot get it to raise ...
I checked the fluid ...
Now what can anyone help me please ....

Welcome to the Forum!

You have to have fully charged battery to start off with. Is there any sound or anything?

Staceymmc 08-25-2012 02:18 PM

Yes.... you can hear the motor click, I pushed the button to lower it and it lowered the rest of the way... So it'll lower but won't go up

RichR 08-25-2012 02:20 PM

Do you know if the battery is charged up? It will not go up by simply being plugged in to 120 AC. It takes very little power to make it go down.

RichR 08-25-2012 02:22 PM

Has it been raising OK before now?

Staceymmc 08-25-2012 02:29 PM

Yes the battery is fully charged ...
I push the button and it does nothing ...

Staceymmc 08-25-2012 02:30 PM

Yes it's worked fine before ...
I bought it last yr from a friend and everything worked fine ...

The click you mentioned is what makes me think your battery isn't charged or isn't making contact with the cables well. Try turning on the heater on a cool night. If the fan spins right up like normal, your battery should be fine. If it sounds slow, look at the battery.

You said there was a clicking sound, I assume it is the solenoid that is mounted on top of the pump. If you have the top all the way down and the motor doesn't run at all maybe the solenoid is bad. If there is no sound at all check the circuit breaker that is mounted on the side of the compartment. But, if the top goes down it wouldn't be the breaker.

I'm just hitting the possibilities.

I put the battery on charge just to make sure it's 100% I'll give it an hour and see what happens ... If it doesn't work I'll be back :P thanks for all your help

Do you have a multimeter to check the battery voltage. If it is fully charged you should have at least 12.6 volts. If it is anything below 12.0 volts it could be bad. Batteries can go at any time.

Staceymmc 08-25-2012 02:47 PM

I'm going to go buy a multimeter now ...Thank you ...

You can also hook jumper cables to it like jump starting a car. Same principle, if you can get to the battery.

It was the battery ...Thanks for all your help :)

Just for the record how did you determine the battery was the trouble maker? You may want to check the voltage while the battery is being charged by the converter just to be sure it is doing its job. There should be at least 13.6 volts there and that can vary depending on the level of charge.

Low battery

I wouldn't think charging the battery for one hour would be enough. Good idea to get a multimeter(inexpensive). I have one in the house and one in the HiLo.
