Default Installing a bike rack

We have a 24ft. Hi-Lo Classic and I'm wondering if anyone has every mounted a hitch on the rear of their Hi-Lo. Camping World has a bike rack with receiver but it appears to put the bikes to close to the rear mounted tire. Any idea's?

Default Trying to get 4 bikes on the back spare mount

First my trailer specs: I have a 1995 24TL with a rear spare tire mount.

I've been reading the posts.. noticing there are a lot of concerns about the weight mounted on the back. I'd like to get 4 bikes on for our family.

I haven't had time to fully examine the spare mount(particularly how securely it's mounted to the frame of the trailer - but I did notice that the underside of the tube going up for the tire mount was open (even thought it's closed on top). I'm wondering if running a tube up inside and using the same bolts would be sturdy enough for a bike rack. I suspect probably not (especially for 4 bikes), but an interesting idea. Any thoughts out there?

Welcome to the Forum!

If you plan on mounting four bikes back there you will have to do like what the above post was showing. There is no way that the bumper will take the strain of that amount of weight and leverage twisting on it. You will have to tie into the frame somehow. The added weight will affect the tongue weight so you will have to be mindful of keeping weight forward in the trailer. A full water tank, dual batteries, and full LP tanks add a lot of tongue weight.

RichR is right about the extra weight on the bumper, however I was also looking for something for my camper and I came across this setup that mounts on the bumper.

Previous owner mounted a receiver hitch on my 2201. So- that would be what i would use----and those receiver mounted wracks will often extend beyond the tire. But- makes weight more an issue with the extension.

Default Bike rack

Our hi lo dealer did some kind of welding at the back of the trailer for a bike rack. Sorry I don't know all the details. Call Mantelli trailer sales at (716)625-8877. Ask for jay in parts or steve in service.
