I have a 1996 Hi-Lo Towlite (18'). I have water damage on the interior walls but only on the rear ~ 4'. Could this be due to water splashing up on the walls when towing over wet roads. Is there a seal that should be in place to prevent this or can one be added? Thanks.

I would say that the water damage came from above, like where the roof and rear cap join. The possibility coming up from the road is nil unless the seal is totally shot. Get up on top and check every seam for cracks in the sealing material and also check the end cap for cracks at the screw locations and the window sealant for leaks.

I am not sure if I can see anything that looks like a seal in that gap. Didn't look right so I have been doing some research to find out what should be there.

I also included some pictures showing the electrolysis that took its toil on my roof; I found over 45 holes in the metal roofing all along the road side about 10" to 14" toward the center and running for about 10 feet. The immediate damage was not noticeable inside until we were in a snowstorm in Oklahoma and returned home and were winterizing it. Water will get trapped inside the walls and ceiling panels and will eventually cause the wood to rot.

I would suggest you look at the pictures I posted of my roof, get a ladder and inspect your roof over the area where you see the wall deterioration and see if you see some blackened areas on the metal roof. If there, get something and remove the black and you will more than likely find a tiny hole oreven a large one. I found holes the size of pinheads to over 1/2" in width.

Let us know what you find and if it is as I suspect, there are several posts on the forum on actions taken by me and GaryK in repairing the roof.

Several of our members have had to rebuild due to water dammage. A cause could be cracked caulk on the exterior walls and around the windows. If you remove a window you will be able to see the condition of your walls. It is possible to fix /rebuild a towlite. It is a matter of time,materials,$ and skills.
