Solar

I have a 2001 22’ Towlight. I came with a solar panel on the roof but I don’t know how to use it. I can’t find any switches inside.

Hello, Nadine. I THINK that panel was connected to the battery in an "always on" fashion. It should run through a small controller to maintain the charging voltage at a safe level. As far as I know, you needn't do anything to have it supply charging current, other than have the panel in sunlight.

I will say though, that it is a very low output panel, 15 Watts I believe. It's only really good for maintaining the trailer's battery while the RV is in storage.

I know that many Hi-Lo solar charge controllers were placed in the compartment behind the fridge. Remove the lower cover and look on the left.

My 2001 did not have a controller mounted in the system. I did have a lighted off/on switch on my control panel labeled "Solar". I did add a controller to my system. If memory serves me correctly, the solar panel wire is a grayish flat wire that comes down the cloth tube with the other wires.

My 2005T has the solar controller mounted behind the fridge, but I have never gotten a "charge" out of it.:)
