stove

I cannot figure out how to light the pilot light on my stove. I got the oven lit, but can"t find where to light the top burners. My Hilo is a 1979. The stove is a Brown model Z0L035-XY.

My stove doesn't have a pilot light, and I suspect yours doesn't either. Just hold a match or butane lighter above the burner and turn on the gas.

I think a pilot light could be problematic, so I doubt they are installed.

I don't have a problem with lighting the burners, that is how I light my Coleman stove. My worry is propane from unlit pilot lights. I have a manual, and it does mention lighting pilots, and it shows the pilot parts in the IPB, but those parts don't seem to be on my stove, so I'm thinking you may be right. thanks for your input.

My reasoning about pilots on the stove top is that they could easily "blow out", especially if the stove is near a door like ours is. Then, since stove top pilots don't use a temp probe shutoff, you WOULD have propane coming into the trailer, which is a pretty small, confined space.

The oven is more protected, so I doubt blowout is as much of a problem.

I wonder if you could see under the stove top with a small mirror to confirm the presence or absence of a pilot light?

I can't recall anyone else in this forum talking about pilot lights for the cooktop.

i think most RV stove tops are lit manually or some 'higher end' models are direct spark ignition...kinda like your home gas grill.

Agreed. I always light ours manually. In fact. when using propane on the frig I always light a burner first to make sure I have gas coming in after turning on the tanks. I keep a couple of those long necked bic charcoal lighters in the drawer next to the stove.

Yes, our oven has a pilot light and we use a lighter to light the stoves burners.
