Worth it or not need advice

Need some advice regarding purchasing a hi lo. Been looking for one for a long time. Found a 1999 26fb. Has had 2 older owners. Has been used less than 15 times otherwise it has been under RV shelter or barn since new. The owner has not used it since last summer. Photos look good, have absolutely no reason to not trust current owner. He sit the trailer up to check it out and says the frig won't go on with electric ac or dc. I have not yet been able to inquire about lpg. I understand the workings of RV fridge, it could be simply power to it. He is older and may have not checked everything. My offer on the trailer is $4500. I would have to travel 700 miles one way to pick it. My question here is 1. Is this trailer worth it at this point? 2. Is there a common control board problem in these fridges since I do not know what brand actually came in it? 3. Anybody have a similar experience . Advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Randy

Welcome to the forum

The guys on the forum are great answering mechanical questions. Use the check list for purchasing a used unit. Worst case senario the ref. needs to be replaced. Ref. have a fuse and a control board. Probably worth the $ if everything checks out. Take care and keep us posted.

I feel your frustration. When I was looking for ours, there wasn't any close to us. Most were 400-600 miles, or more. I had to go with my gut feeling, and drive 600 miles, one-way. They were the 2nd owners, and it was always stored inside. He had gone blind, and they just couldn't travel. So I felt that is was worth the gamble. Needless to say, it was worth the drive, and I came home with it.

Thanks Gentlemen. Well this one sounded great, and looked great in the photos. Seller has great feedback on eBay. Drove 1500 miles round trip, found the photos are about 5 years old, trailer looks nothing like that now, right front lower quarter panel damage and repaired by owner, was suppose to have new tires, they were gray and cracked with two flat and sinking in the ground. I have always looked at these kinda as a bucket list item. I realize the more moving parts on anything the more the maintenance. All look like they have been beat with a stick. I'm beginning to think that this thing beats it's self up. I have a ten year old trailer in the drive way with about 100,000 miles on it with 13 coast to coast trips. .... It looks basically new..... And probably has went 97.000 miles more than most trailers ever do. I'm kinda getting stumped on this one. Amazingly the seller currently has it relisted on eBay located in Ben Wheeling tx. With a much more detailed description that is even more in INCORRECT.

Good thing that you passed on this one. Keep looking, they're out there. We looked for 5 months and bought in the fall when prices were lowest. Before buying one, we must have driven almost 3K miles. But, we got what we wanted at the price we wanted.

We saw a couple that didn't match the description at all, just like the one you saw. Just chalk it up as a learning experience and it'll help you make a more informed decision later!

Good luck
