Hi-Lo 1709T Weights
 

I thought I'd post the measured weights on our recently purchased 1709T. The seller thought it weighed 2497 lbs. I thought not, but didn't disagree on the phone. When we got to his house I found the "as-built Trailer Weight Information" inside the kitchen cabinet. It said the trailer weighed 2978. I figured another good 300 lbs over that for awning, two batteries, electric jack. Turns out it was more than that even. I took it to our county dump and weighed it there; the dump's scales are not necessarily repeatable, but it is better than just guessing. When we get on the road, I'll go to a CAT scale and get certified weights.

These are about what our last 17' trailer weighed, and substantially less than our 24' Lance. Same tow truck. So, it would have been nice to be 500 lbs lighter, but we can manage the load safely.

Notes: Truck is 2009 Chevy Colorado with V8, driver only, ½ fuel, trailer hitch. Trailer has no fresh water, full water heater 1 full 30# propane tank, 1 half-full 30# propane tank, 2 deep cycle batteries, electric jack, overhead bunk, empty black and gray tanks, a few items inside but no clothes nor food…pretty empty.
*County scales. Not reliable and often find sum of parts add up different than the whole measured. Still it gives a rough idea. Also cannot weigh tongue only as the scale is inaccurate at low weights, so the tongue weight is calculated.

Scotty - your trailer weighs about what mine weighs (measured on a CAT scale). Mine is 3500# with no fresh water, but 2 full 20# propane tanks. I had to have my axle moved 3" forward to get the tongue weight where it belonged. AND, the label inside my trailer said it was 29xx# too, with all factory installed equipment.

I've found the Landfill scales here to be quite accurate, BTW. I've made many trips there in my truck and the unloaded weights are within 100# each time.

I think I'm good at 500 lb tongue weight and we travel pretty light so I don't expect to reach the trailer's max weight. Pity what Hi-Lo did to your axle position initially...pretty irresponsible IMO.
