Default How do you scan?

How do I scan the owners manual for my stove /oven to put in the library section? My daughter says she doesn"t know how to do this. I have a scan function on my HP printer. Maybe it is in my owners manual if I take the time to look it up!!

It's a little complicated for a beginner, but here is a ruff outline. You have to take the manual apart so that you can scan each page. It may be possible to do it with out taking apart but each page has to lie flat on the scanner bed or there will be distortion. If it's a feed thru scanner, it has to come apart. Scan each page and save to your computer as a JPG file, My Documents is the easiest place, Then you have to put the scanned pages into a PDF file for uploading, because the site upload feature lets you upload larger files this way. Primo PDF is a free converter, You may have to break up the manual into more than one PDF file, if it is larger than this site will let you upload at one time, you can however do several PDF uploads at the same time.
Hope this helps, I can go thru it with you on the phone or how ever you like.

I don't have a HP so you will have to read the manual for scan instructions. I had one several years ago but don't remember and a newer one would probably be different.

Sam,
Check the manual or menu with your printer, it may already have PDF file capability built in. That would eliminate the JPG to PDF conversion process. I have it on my Canon printer and it works quite well, once I figured it out.

Sam,

I believe that the scan file is going to be too large to post here. The 4 in one printers make really large scan pdf files.

If you want to make a copy, you can snail mail it to me, and I will post it for you. Please PM your e-mail address, and I will send you my physical address.

Default How to scan

Thanks to all my wonderful HiLo friends for the replies. I"ll show the posts to my daughter tomorrow. I love my daughter, but sometimes I think she just doesn"t want to help me. She is very capable of reading and following directions. Especially when it is her agenda. She recently spent a couple of long sessions getting our friend straightened out with her computer problems. Our life is challenged by her autism. I was at our HiLo for several hours today and It occured to me that we were real lucky the previous owner gave us a thick packet of manuals and maybe I need to scan and post more of them.
