I have an 1992 24 ft funlite.Where is lever located and what does it look like?

Its in the battery compartment up front.

This small "bolt" here has to be turned all the way in clockwise or it wont go up manually. Turn it counter-clockwise slowly to lower it.

Motorpig is showing you the part on the pump you stick the rod in to allow you to move it back and forth.
It sounded like you were asking about the rod itself. If you have one, it's normally sitting in the battery compartment as a loose item. It's about 18" long, as I recall, with a handle on one end. It looks like a round pipe that will fit into the pump fitting. If you don't have the rod, you can easily substitute a length of iron water pipe if it will fit into the pump fitting. - Jack |

I'm new to this stuff, but looks like the pump has possibly been changed out to one that does not have a manual why to do it. What brand is the pump? Is it a monarch?

Not all pumps on the HiLos had a manual pump. You had to pay extra for it. It also came standard on most classic models. The small rod in your picture is the manual lowering valve. If it has not been activated in a long time it may be stuck and will need a little force to move it. Just try moving it sideways or up and down. You will need to lift the top with the pump enough to get the weight off the safety bar and have someone pull the safety bar cable then activate the lowering lever in order to manually lower the top.

I have the same exact problem. I just acquired a 1992 Funlite and the prior owner towed the trailer in the raised position once someone stole the battery. now I cannot get the top to lower. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am a newbie and really trying to restore this camper.

You need to get the weight of the trailer up off the safety bar first. Hook up to good battery and tryraisingit an inch to start. Release safety bar ( usually a little cable you pull next to raise/lower switch. ). Then while holding cable press down button. If you have bigger issues and buttons don't work let us know.

Thank you so much. I followed your instructions and was able to get the trailer to come down. Now I am going to replace all the faded out Side Marker Lights. So glad I found this forum or I would have been "STUCK LIKE CHUCK"

Glad it was simple. Electrical is usually the most common issue when not being able to raise or lower. So, now, make sure you lubricate all the cables once or twice a year as well as grease the hydraulic "ram". Check the library for links on how to do this.

afternoon! we are new to owning a hilo. we took delivery of it last night! not sure i got a good deal... guy claimed we could tow it home in upright postion trip was 130 miles from picking it up to home. he claimed reason it wasnt going down is solenoid is shot... so this morning hubby is on his way to get one! i'm stressed out bc i've always wanted a hi lo.. btw its a 1983 i'll post pics later! he lied to me about his camper in so many ways but we are willing to give this baby a second life!

Somebody forgot to read the manual on not having it sit on the safety bar!!!!!
