Won't lift - Hi-Lo camper travel trailer forum

The motor engages and starts to lift them stops. There's a lot of pressure in the pump, so much that I can't operate the manual override. I'm addition there's a slow leak in the ram itself near the fluid connection but not at the connection. I just bought the trailer and the pump was leaking but I fixed that. The system has not worked since I've bought it and I don't have a complete manual yet. I'm going to try cleaning the battery etc. tomorrow but the high pressure in the pump is confusing.

Orca, Not sure, but sounds like a restriction someplace. Have you tried loosening the "B" nut on the cylinder? Apply pressure and see if there is flow. That'll tell weather there's a problem before the cylinder. If there's flow TO the cylinder, but no movement then it's the cylinder. Is there fluid in the static return tube? A small amount is acceptable, but NOT a lot. If that is full of fluid then there is an internal leak in the cylinder.
The leak "near" the connection indicates the line, which will need repair.

Thanks Tree, can you tell me where the B nut is ? I don't have a detail on the cylinder. But, I think you're right.

Tree do you think I might have an obstruction in the pressure line to the cylinder also ? I can't explain why I have so much pressure in the pump housing. It's not going anywhere.

Orca, The "B" nut is right on the cylinder attached to the rigid line. You need only loosen it, no need to remove it. Then apply pressure (trying to raise the top), fluid should squirt.
That will tell you if the line is clear of obstructions and if the pump IS in fact working. Pressurize only for a second or two. If you do have pressure that far, then I'd suspect the cylinder or other obstruction.
