Dodge Ram 1500 7 pin connector
I'm considering buying a brake controller for my 22' towlite. Does anyone know if the factory 7 pin connector in my bumper will work for the brake controller or do i need a separate wiring harness for it?

If it's factory as you describe, it should be all ready to go as soon as you mount the controller and plug it into the connector under the dash.

Ok, that's what I was hoping piperjim, thanks for the response.

When you order your brake controller, ask about the “pigtail” made for your truck. After that it is plug and play. Sure beats the old days of splicing into the wiring.

My Dodge 7-pin was not actually connected to anything for the brakes. It was only connected to 4 wires for the typical flat-four trailer wiring. The blue trailer brake wire is under the dash area, but stops about at the front fender. You might need to run a length of wire to the trailer plug from the short blue wire. Any trailer brake device will plug in, and yes, get the pig tail for your Dodge.

Thanks for the info marininn.

I purchased the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 for my Dodge Ram. Plug & play. Worked like a charm.

I'll check it out, thanks

the connection for the controller on my 06dodge was under the dash left-hand side of the brake pedal, it was a fast easy setup once I got the correct pigtail

Thanks for the info
