Default Escape Hatch

Hello everyone
Maybe someone can shed some light on this issue for me;
I have a mid-80's FunChaser, and the roof vent/escape hatch cover was missing. Measures 22"x22". So, I checked eBay, and got a whole new unit.
After spending an hour removing the old one, the new one measures 21 5/16 square, the old one is 21 1/2 square....the cutout itself is exactly 22x22. New unit is too small to seal the opening by about 1/2" on all sides.
There was no brand or model # on the old one. Looks like there are a number of brands out there...Elixir,Astro, Jensen. Has anyone run into this problem?!?

Thanks!

-Dave

Default Replacing escape vent.

I have a 90Hi Lo Classic with the same size escape vent. some years ago hubby spoke with some one at the factory about replacement.He was told they don't have a suplier for this part. We cover/baby the one we have. I would call JR in Ohio to see if he has any. Things might have changed. I wonder if you couldn't somehow fill in the space to make the newone you have fit. Tricky to do any not create a roof leak. Sorry I don't have a good solution for you. sam

Dave,
You could also try Joel at Home - The Official HiLo Trailer Parts & Service. He also was a former employee of the Hi-Lo factory. He has quite a few things listed including the prices. There is also a email addy to email him to check to see if he has the vent cover you're looking for. I do know he doesn't have everything listed that he carries. Between Joel at Hi-Lo Trailer Parts and Jim & Rob at J&R Repair my guess is one of these two places could help you. I have gotten things from both places. When we were in Ohio last year I do remember boxes of vents sitting around J&R Repair like you are looking for just don't know if you can just buy the cover or if you would have to buy the whole unit. Hope this helps you.
