Silicone RV roof coating
Ok don't wana open can of worms BUT..Lets say alu roof is clean and patched with eternabond epdm tape, cleaned and ready to coat...(With Something)...
I have researched tell I'm dizzy..Some say liquid rubber type and then there is Silicone (Henry 100% silicone 887 ) with lifetime guar......Researching says it for RV/alu and will work.. BUT i read so often (No Silicone on ROOF) are they talking about caucking ..or everything .. Right now I have Zero Silicone on roof...BUT if I coat it with Henry887 it well be 100% ..and future leaks will have to be repaired with Silicone compatable material ONLY..and and another coat of Henry 887.. I am open to all Ideas and comments PLEASE... Model 22td 2000+-a year |
Use KoolSeal coating for your roof. Make sure it is for an aluminum roof (they make 2 kinds - aluminum & rubber). I used a paint brush to go around the vents, a/c, stacks, roof seams, and roof edge. I used a paint roller to go over the rest of the roof. Let it dry for a day and give it a second coat. I did this every 2 - 3 years on both my HiLo's and never had a roof leak. Hope this helps.

Thats all Kool ;But I already have 3 gal of the Henry 887..I bought on sale and I might be able to return it..or just take it as a loss and dumb buy ....Cause I sure don't wana put a problem on my roof...

Big "O", retired gave the right info, Kool Seal it. Clean it good and coat it 2X, 3 if there is enough. But, I can't stress enough, always keep an eye on that roof. Leaks sneak up on us.

which one do I want..I am 73y old so lifetime may not mean much..LOL I would not be against re- coating it every 3 y or so (esp since i can do it from step stool) I just wana do it right the fst time THX guys |
cva34, get the KoolSeal elastomeric white for aluminum roofs. I used 2 gallons on my 29’ HiLo and still had a little left over. You do not need to use a primer with this. Make sure the roof caulking is good before using any sealer. Good luck.

Roof sealing
Be sure to read all the directions on the can and follow them. It will require you to get up on a ladder and then on the roof. Tape off where the roof meets the sidewall edge. I used blue painters tape. When you have applied the last coat carefully remove the blue painters tape. This will give you a crisp clean job. You can get your coating at any RV place. Well worth the time and effort as a new rood can cost $6.000.
