front interior lights

Hello everyone. We have a 2000 tow lite 17 ft. There are 2 interior lights on the wall in front that do not work. Everything else works ok. We have checked fuses, and all things. Only thing we can figure is they have somehow become separated from their power system. Cant tell where the source might be coming from. Overhead bins above them do not have any of the wires from interior, only the running yellow lights. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, as don't want to tear walls apart just for these two. Thanks

Hello, gmarie1 - welcome to our happy band of camping idiots!

Have you taken one of the lights off to see if it is "wired in"? Not having a picture of those lights, is it possible a previous owner installed battery powered lights there and the batteries are simply dead or missing?

I ask this, because shortly after we bought our HiLo, I installed four battery powered LED lights inside so that we would not have to use the trailer battery for interior lighting. Since then, I replaced all the OEM interior lights with LEDs, so I never use those battery powered ones now - but, they are still in there.

Yes, we have had them both off. They are identical to the rest of lights in camper. There is continuity between the lights but no power at all to them. Going to have to enlarge hole where they go in wall to see if wiring goes down or off to side. We have decided it has to go down to a main power source. There is a plug below one of them but no wire connecting to that plug so not tied to it. Plug works just fine. What we need is a diagram that shows where the power source is to these 2 front lights.

One place to look is where the wire bundle goes from the bottom half to the top half. That should be in the inside back corner, it is covered with fabric. There should be wires that are spiced together with wire nuts. Check to see if everything is connected. They can be on two circuits that are both fused at the fuse panel.

Did you check any overhead cabinets or the front bins for a false bottom? The bottoms are stapled into the cabinets. Try prying up on the interior cabinet bottoms and check for wires there. That is where a lot of the lighting wires are at.

Wiring for the stereo is also located there.

Not saying this is the case. Just sharing our experience. When we had wall water damage a wire on the wall beside our refrigerator broke. The only way this was evident was because we tore the wall out. Dh elected to run a wire on the outside of the interior. He consulted with our HiLo dealer and taped into the converter/small hole under the cupboard and connected to the wire under the false cupboard bottom. No problem raising or lowering and getting the wire caught.
