Default GFI Issues

2001 Classic 29 L

Wife unplugged a appliance and noticed a spark from GFI outlet in front living room. All fuses are fine. Only two front outlets work in the trailer, the rest are dead. A/C outlet works. I replaced GFI with new one and same result. I placed a meter on GFI and lower posts have power and upper posts the needle max's out. I did get a small jolt when accidently touching posts.
I am puzzled.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you could try one of the plugin test lights for outlets it could tell you if something isn't hooked up right somewhere in the circuit.

Did everything work before this? Is the trailer plugged into a home or campground outlet? It sounds as though something is wired incorrectly somewhere, either in the trailer or the power feeding the trailer.

Yes, get the plugin test light made especially for GFIs. They are available at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE, etc. They are more expensive than the "standard" ones, but it's what you need.

Thanks for your responses.

Yes, everything worked prior to this event. We lived in the HiLo for 2 1/2 months in Arizona. This happened when we were about to head home. My wife hit the reset button and then it sparked. We were hooked up to shore power the whole time.

I will pick up a test light and go from there.

Thanks.
