Hi my wife wants me to replace the flooring in our 1983 hilo. I was just wandering if anyone has done it and if they would offer any tips/suggestions.

Yes I replaced the flooring in my trailer. I removed the carpet and instaled a leno flooring that looks like wood planks I got it at lowe's. It comes in wood plank strips about 3 ft long with a peal and stick on the back. Make sure you clean the floor very well before you start installing the flooring. When instaling make sure you stager all the seams. When finished I installed a prefinished 1/4 round that matched the interior wood I also got it at Lowe's. I ran the strips of leno front to rear, and cut around every thing but the toilet, that I removed and installed the floor then reinstalled the toilet with a new throne riser and seals.

We did the same. We just purchased a 1985 hi lo in great shape. In the bathroom and dinning areas we put down commercial carpet. In the middle of the trailer & entrance we put down the sticky squares. We kept a square of the carpet for the entrance for rainy days

. Took very little time and looks awesome! I also made new curtains, a cover for the bench seat and faux painted the old wall paper. Everything works great, we need a new stove/oven it is rusted and looks yucky, but works. Have you ever replaced your stove/oven?

Yes it is easy to replace the oven/stove top, lift off the cover to the stove top remove the screws 4 to 6 that hold it to the counter top.Pull the unit forward about 6 to 8 inches then unscrew the gas line (make sure the gas is turned off before you start) then lift the stove out. you can get a replace ment at you local dealer. They may have to order it give them the modle and seral number it is on a plate below the burners. May take a week to 10 days for them to order.

I just purchased cork plank flooring for the main area and the bathroom. It has double cork sides and is a floating click together floor. I figured it will cost $400 and add some insulating properties to the floor. I plan on sealing it with water based polyurethane and have rug pieces at the door and around the toilet. I'll let everyone know of problems during install. I walked on a cork floor in a refurbished retro trailer and couldn't believe the feel and look.

I will be replacing my flooring also. I bought 4 boxes of Allure flooring from Home Depot. It is an oak plank type flooring that requires no glue. We will refloor the entire trailer but leave the carpet in the rear bedroom. Only problem I see is the street wall in the living room area. The floor has an elevated "box" running the length of the wall (approx 5'). Water lines and wiring are in the "box". Will try to lower the height of the "box" to make the floor more level and easier to cover with the new flooring.

I was going to replace the floor in our 90 25ft classic. Decided I couldn't take the pain in my knees. We had an accident,a bottle of cleaning liquid leaked out on to the floor and two places bubbled up. So mad because the floor was in great condition. I had a flooring place install the floor. Not enough clearance to sub floor. Some type of floor patch was applied to the entire bathroom floor and hallway. Under the dinette and between the couches is carpet in great condition. Laminate flooring was installed and I stained and finished 1/4 round wood trim. This dressed up the height difference and looks great. I was ready to complain because he didn't cut the hole around the toilet flange perfect. Hubby put in some caulk and the snap on toilet cover covers the blooper. If I wanted a "crapjob" I could have done it my self. Hubby had to caulk the seam against the back wall of the toilet. Hubby didn't want me to complain. You will have to take the panel off on the tub to expose the floor. It cost us $550.00. My christmas and birthday present to my self. Even after you replace the floor keep the BR and isle with plenty of rugs. This will keep stones ect. from scratching the floor. When you reinstall the bathtub panel you will have to shave some of the edge off to get it to fit in. When it is cold the rugs under your feet will feel good and provide some insulation.

Here's the pics of my flooring job. The worst part was pulling out the carpet and removing the many staples used to hold it down. The flooring went down real easy. Will include more pics in other posts.

Removed the toilet and front shower panel to make it easier to lay the flooring. Had to shorten the panel to account for the thickness of the flooring.
