Default Noisy Bunk Bed

Just came back from our first outing, the kids were on the bunk bed and all night long the crackling wood noise drove me nuts. Has anyone experience this problem before? The bunk bed is in new condition, I think its a faulty design with the type of wood that they used. Any fix for this?

Is there plywood under the matress? Sounds like thin plywood may be to blame. You can try replacing it with thicker plywood, a sheet of MDF if you can find it, or even planks of good quality wood cut and laid in ladder style.
