Replacement accordion shades?

Anyone happen to know who the original vendor was for the combination sheer/privacy accordion blinds used toward the end of production of the Classic series? The blinds on our 2307C's four side windows are failing (ones on the front and back windows are fine), and none of the samples we've gotten from places like Blinds Galore and Blinds Chalet are really good color matches.

You could try restringing your shades. That would be the least expensive option....

oldcarguy - I had a problem with our shades - they wouldn't stay up. I found that by increasing the tension in the cords, that it fixed the problem. I just had to untie them and them retie them shorter (if that makes sense).

Unfortunately, it's not just the cord tension - the pleats themselves are failing to the point where it's nearly impossible to get the blinds more than about 2/3 open.

I've tried removing the blinds, forcing them into the fully retracted position and clamping them for several days, but as soon as tension is released the pleats pucker and twist again.

Somebody else here posted that if you sprayed them with water, then closed them so that the creases were correct, when they dried, they would be OK again. Have you tried that?

Day and night shades.

One of my day and night shades has seperated and is about to detach. I have an apt. with J&R in Oct. We see the silver hardware at the top and can;t figure out how to remove the shade. Not sure who I spoke with. He said they will remove the blind and find the code and possibly be able to order another one. I bet it would be expensive? Another Classic owner wet his blind and folded the pleats. Can't remember what he tied them up with. Then he had it in his basement the entire winter. His efforts didn't work. Plan B ...he installed mini blinds(much cheaper). Consult with J&R 1-419-883-3001

These should work. https://www.stevesblindsandwallpaper...%20day%20night All they need is your credit card info! :)

Hi;

I was one of the people who wet his blinds and kept them compressed. It worked well for me to take out the wrinkles, etc.

The blinds stayed in place in the Hi-Lo. I just dampened the problem shades lightly with a misting spray bottle. Then, as I raised the blinds a little at a time, I carefully oriented them correctly as the pleats came together. When the shade was all the way up, I left it in place during storage over the winter. In the spring they looked and operated great. I refurbished about four blinds this way.

We live in a desert environment, so I was not concerned about storing the blinds damp. I knew they would dry just fine and not have any problem with mildew.

If the day/night blinds are in really bad shape, I don't know if this would work as well. It's easy to try though.

Removed screws and my day and night shades came down.

DH had a good day as he was able to figure out how to remove our day and night shades. Removes screws that were under the header. First you had to unsnap curtains at the half rail. And then you unscrew the screw that holds the tension string. UNITED SHADE iNC. ELKART,IN 46514. 1-219-262-0954 Some of the day shades have come unglued from the track. Will try to reglue using contact cement. I will try calling the company first and see what glue to use.

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback - ours are not delaminating from the rails, so that's not an issue (so far, at least). Have not tried spraying and clamping with the pleats properly aligned and the blind fully closed - good suggestion, and one that I'll try today on the blind that I have out of the trailer and at home. It's still warm here (Sacramento, CA) so I suspect they'll dry pretty quickly.

Contacted J & R and got a response from Rob - as their post below indicates, he said they have some original blinds in stock and are in contact with the OEM manufacturer, so they can get replacements in sizes that they don't have; he's going to check stock and get back with me as to what they've got and what they'd need to order.

Replacement day and night shades.

I called United Shade inc. They only sell to rv places. My shades wouldn't be available in the Teal/Aqua Mist/Teal. Next time I am in HD I will look at what they carry and if they have anything in teal. We were able to figure out how to unscrew the blinds and used contact cement to glue them to the track that was previously glued. For now we are okay.
