I have seen it stated by some folks that they will not use silicone caulk on their RV. Can someone please explain why?
Thanks! Jeff

I've always used Silicone on campers with no problems.

Me too! I'm sure there are other products that work as well if not better.

I prefer not to use silicon caulking because it has no UV protection. UV rays breaks down the silicon which can cause the caulk to fail.
I use a polyurethane caulking commonly known as Sikaflex 1A for all my seams on the trailer since is has UV protection. I stay away from tripolymer because it has rubber as an ingredient that tends to dry out and crack.
