Default Flap on window needing reseal

Retired camper 47 ,Thanks for the reminder of another place to caulk seal on the window. Hopefully we can check and reseal without having to take out reinstalled window. Sure don't want to have water dammage on our newly restored walls.

Sam,

You don't have to pull the windows. Just check the length of the rubber/vinyl strip on the outside. If they appear to be too short, just apply sealer on the ends. This will keep water from seeping down into the windows.

Default Window seals exterior

DH said the same thing as your reply. He seems to know a little about many things and already sealed the corners.

I am new and have vinyl trim that is cut too short or shrunk. What type of sealer do you recommend? Please give a name, if possible. Thanks.

Default window sealer

We used Lexel caulk that was purchased at Ace hardware. About $8.00 a tube. Worth every penny.

If by vinyl trim you mean the plastic glazing strips around the inside frame that holds the window panes in, I found a website that sells many different types. You will have to remove a piece and take some measurements of its width and then match up the style before ordering. If yours is like mine, it has some curved window panes which require the strip to be bent into a curved shape. Not sure how to do this. A heat gun maybe? Link below has many styles.

What is the consistency of the Sikaflex caulk? Bill likes the Dap brand Silicone; he found the lexel caulk to be runny/messy/sticky and did not like the way it applied. It doesn't appear that Sikaflex comes in clear.
