Default DIY Bike Rack Conversion

How often do you use propane? If you're like us then the answer is practically never.

It struck me that carrying two 30lb LPG tanks was not only excessive in weight but also redundant, so I decided to dismantle & convert the space to carry our bikes. I tow our 2204T with a crossover which has a 130lb dog in the rear so, needing access for our dog, a rear car rack became a nuisance.

I left the tank holder in place as a bike support but slid water-pipe insulation over it to protect from scratching. I then sawed a plastic pipe in half & fastened the two halves to the tank holder with wood, these would serve as bike frame supports. Some straps & clamps secured the assembly & away we go.

Total cost: $0:00

p.s. I note that few want to do without their LPG &, if I were traveling in Winter or doing more than a long weekend, I wouldn't either. I simply carry the tank inside.
