Off the track
 

Hello-

One of the tracks that the top of the camper goes up and down on is not correct. The top has jumped the track, I have searched the forums, and while i am sure the answer is in here, I haven't been able to come up with the right search term.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dan, The only way I've been able to get the guide block back on track is to raise the top all the way, having your #2 square drive ready, and remove the guide rail. l
Lower the top a few inches, reinstall the block on the rail, ( this may take some help pushing the side in a bit) but just snug those lower screws. Raise the top again and finish installing all the screws. It's always worked for me.

I followed Tree's procedure and was able to re-engage my guide block. However my guide block was split down the middle & jumped off again on the next bumpy road. I bought a replacement block on-line & was able to replace it while the trailer top was lowered. Can send procedure if needed.

OTRA, By all means, give us the step by step, with pics if possible. There is certainly others out here who could now or later need this help. During a customers seal replacement we noticed a block off track, checked them all and only ONE was in track! I ordered and received them in two days. For safety we changed all five. I keep spares.

Can't take work photos on my trailer right now but the tools are in the attached pics.

Removing guide channels besides the one where the guide block is replaced will provide more slack. Middle of the trailer guide blocks are easier to do than those on the end. For end guide blocks, removing guide rails on the opposite side of the trailer helps.

Start with whichever length #2 square bit you can get in there and turn it with the 1/4" wrench. Change to a shorter square bit as each screw comes out and you run out of room. Use the vise grip on the screw itself & hopefully the screw can be removed with a little extra prying between the top & bottom halves.

This is a PITA job but easier than totally splitting the top & bottom.
