Default PVC Handrail

Judy is very safety conscious since she broke her wrist and she said we need a handrail on the Hi-Lo. I came up with this idea using 2" PVC and an elbow and a Y connector and a dowel inside the piece under the step. It's held on with 3 2" lag screws.

Clever idea, and how is it securely attached? Where do you stow it when travelling?
