Replacing the sink

Hi All, planning to replace the double white sink with a single basin steel sink. Hopefully won't add too much extra weight. Appreciate any ideas/suggestions.

Hi uma - I doubt you'll find it difficult to replace the sink. It's just a "drop-in" component. I suggest you install the faucet assembly onto the sink BEFORE you install the sink onto the cabinet though. I suspect your white sink may be enameled metal, so the new stainless one will probably be much the same, weight-wise (it may even be lighter).

The OEM sink on my trailer has butyl tape around the underneath edge to keep water from going into the cabinet. If yours has this it will kind of "hold" the old sink in place and you'll have to pry it up to remove the sink. DO use something like butyl or Lexel around the edge of the new sink when you install it.

Thanks a lot, Jack. That is OEM sink, so will use the butyl tape when replacing.

When replacing the sink you might consider replacing the faucet like "Camp the West Coast" did and I also did. It is an inexpensive pull out faucet purchased from a big box store and will give you more flexibility when you rinse large pots and pans. When I installed mine on my 200527T I did have to remove the canopy from the underside of the cabinet and install it inside the upper cabinet. :)

We replaced our double sink with a nice big deep stainless steel one. So much nicer! We love it. Easy to install. I think we had to cut a bigger hole in the counter. Then we got a faucet with a sprayer on the side.

So much more room for pots, pans, and grill tops!

I see another mod in my future!

Thanks Garry, I did check out the "camp the west coast" - it was helpful.

Hi Snappy Tom, Thanks for sharing !. yeah, steel is much nicer and it will help lot since I like using cast iron pans .

Snappy Tom, I have the faucet, but the sink seems to be difficult to find. In my 2703, the hole measurements are 25" X 18". Was yours anything like that? If so, do you know the source or maker numbers? I've tried several sources to no avail, except $500+.
Thanks in advance.

Getting a sink.

I have had good luck getting parts from PPL Motorhomes in Texas. Request a catalog. It is an excellent resource. If you don't see what you want on the internet ask as not everything is listed. Thoughts on install. Use the butyl tape and use a butter knife or similar to trim off the excess. Then also use Lexel caulk. Avoid water infiltration. Double insurance!!
