Hello. I have a 2008 Hi-Lo 15T. I live in Albuquerque and keep it outside year round. Last year was my first year with the trailer and, since I didn't plan on using it over the winter, I drained all of the water out as a precaution against freezing. This winter, I'm thinking that I may want to take it out once or twice, so I would like to avoid draining and refilling the system for each use. In Albuquerque, it does often get down below freezing on winter nights. What is the chance of my water lines freezing, and what damage would it do if I didn't drain the lines and H2O heater? Your thoughts are appreciated. Jerry

I've tried that myself, and regretted it.

I had a toilet valve, on another brand of RV, freeze a few years ago. I thought it funny that the toilet valve was the first thing to freeze, but they really don't have any protection and are exposed (but not easy to get to for the repair). As I laid there all contorted in the floor trying to get the toilet valve out, I was kicking myself for not winterizing the RV before that first freeze.

Don't take the chance. If you don't want to fully winterize it, you could drain the water heater, then blow out the water lines with compressed air (careful not to blow real high psi through it or you could blow something). Don't forget to put RV antifreeze in the drains.

I just checked the weather in ABQ last Jan and the lowest temp was 16. Yeah, you don't want to skip winterizing your RV.

It all of $3 and less than 30’ to winterize-I would definitely take the time to winterize your trailer Don’t forget the outside shower!

Pay now or pay later. RV antifreeze costs $2.49 plus tax at Walmart. I was at our RV dealer some years ago in the spring. The service advisor showed a customer his cracked barell shaped water heater. $500.00. He let his friend do the job to save $.

Chance is not zero I assume. Will it go in your garage? If so you are home free.

Blowing out waterlines with air does not always remove all water...It may leave some in low spot.Then OUCH..Drain and bypass WH and then get antifreeze in lines (all H and C) and P traps...Get Any liquid Coke /sport drinks/bottled water/ETC out of camper..or ya might have a mess..I rigged me up a boat bilge pump to pump anti f through..Or just get bucket with anti f high enough that it can flow through all lines (set it on Roof)
