Default A few pictures from the Rally

Home today from the Hi-Lo Rally in Colorado , Great time . Thank You to all the Rocky Mtn. Club members for putting on such a great Rally. 60 + rigs in attendance. The food and entertainment exceeded expectations . The Arizona Club had a great time.
The last picture I posted is some bad weather I ran into on my way to the Rally. That is not snow in the picture but Hail three inches deep 100 miles from Colorado in Raton NM on Sunday. They had the snow plows out and luckily I came just behind him.

Default Pictures

Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures. We were coming back from Dallas this past Thursday and got into Abilene about 10 minutes after they had baseball size hail! I got a few hail stones, but nothing that big. It beat out car windows and home windows and blew metal buildings away from their prior locations. We were being watched over in our travels as it appears ya'll were. Safe travels and again thanks for the pictures. Would love to see and hear more about the National Rally if you get the time.

Default Thanks

Tom,
Thanks for posting the rally photos. The wife and I so much wanted to come and had planned an extended trip to that area. Then in January our lives were turned upside down when our daughter and five children had to come home to escape abuse.
We so much wanted to come but family comes first and she really needed our help.
Hoping all had a wonderful and safe rally. And also that others will post some more photos.
God Bless
Papa

A little more about the rally , the award for the oldest Hi-Lo trailer at attendance went to a 1992 model , sorry don't remember owners name or size. The award to the person who travelled the farthest went to a trailer from New Hampshire .
The Great ideas forum was a big hit. lots of people contributed ideas , with a TV set up to show pictures of many of the improvement's people have made to their trailers.
I thought the weather was awesome , but coming from Arizona anything under our 110s would seem great.

Thanks for the pics! I hope to see more. I had fully intended to attend but then realized that it was during the same time as my mother's 84th birthday. Her birthday trumped the rally. Any idea where next year's rally will be at? I have driven through Raton Pass many times. You can usually find it closed during the winter. It is just so scenic as you cross into CO from NM.

Still in Colorado. Will try to post pics when we get home in a few weeks. The Rocky Mountain Club did a fantastic job with the rally. We toured the Air Force Academy, the Garden of the Gods, and rode the cog railroad up to Pike's Peak. Too many sights to see around here, that's why we are staying another week. Saw many old friends and made some new friends. Met several forum members here. Nice to put faces to handles. This was my 14th rally and each year the bar is raised higher. The Colorado folks outdid themselves. The Wisconsin club is working hard to push the bar higher. I know they will meet the challenge. Thanks again Colorado for a great time!

Hi Tom,
The morning after the award ceremony, I was informed that there was an even older trailer at the Rally...a 1991 model. The owner had not filled in the year of manufacture on the Rally registration form. Not a problem, I'll engrave a second "oldest plaque," and send it to them.
We also had an award for the "Most National Rallies Attended." The winner had been to 19 total. I think that is all of them that have been held.

We were concerned that the tour to the 14,000 ft plus summit of Pikes Peak might be too much for some folks, but all who went seemed to be mentally prepared for the thinner air and heights. All did well!

We were also concerned that overall Rally attendance would be poor, because of the long distance, for many, to Colo. Springs. Especially since last year's Rally had a lower turn-out. But after cancellations for various good reasons, we ended up having 60 rigs (think that was the final count) gather for the Rally!

It was fun to eat lunch at the Air Force Academy Falcon "O" Club. Food was delicious.

Finally, the Rocky Mountain Hi-Lo Club, along with the sage advice of RetiredCamper47, and a few other experienced hands, organized the rally. It was all who attended who really made it a success. To all of you who made the trek west, making this a good experience, and a really fun Rally, THANK YOU!

Jim

Hi Ruben,
Unfortunately, no. We didn't have a category for "most extreme" Hi-Lo. Honestly though, we had no idea that Bill and Freenie were going to show up and treat us all to a look at their rig. They arrived the last night and departed the next morning. Just long enough for us all to have a good look at their amazing Hi-Lo hybrid, just long enough to patiently answer all of our questions, and to share a few tales of their extreme off road adventures! Very nice couple. I'll post their website when we arrive home and I can unpack the biz card they gave to me.
Jim
