Default Lowering Checklist

This checklist may save you some unplanned damage. I wrote it after a close call with leaving the water pressure regulator in place after removing the hose. I just saw it in time before lowering the top.

I would add check the tongue area for any items sat there such as bug candles. Not that I know from it happening to me but it did. Close the wardrobe door too.

Default Checklist Updated

OK. I did an upgrade and left space to add your own items.

lpmincey: May I suggest placing your regulator at the spigot end of your hose. You will accomplish two things--removing danger referred to in your thread and protecting your hose from spiking water pressure.

Default Regulator Placement

That solution is too simple for me, i like to do things the hard way.

Thanks for the idea.

Kengsr - You are a man after my own heart. A checklist for everything important - It's easier to have a list than to have OCD and check everything twice. Thanks - I have separated mine into - Leaving home/ Returning drycamping vs RV park. Drycamping includes 6 gallon water jug, small blackwater tank and extra spare tire and second battery.

Default Important item

For those of us that drycamp there is a critical item you left out. Right before Black water drained there should be one that says. Tighten clamps on sewer hose. Failure to do so can ruin your whole day.

Rolff,
I had bought a new hose for the 95 but never used it. We got the 2209 and I started using the new hose, was ok till this winter in Florida and it sure can ruin your day. I couldn't believe that I forgot to check the hose clamp.

Make sure your plug for the bathroom sink is stowed away and not able to get between the top and bottom when lowering punching a hole in your fiberglass on the rear.

Default Where to store bathroon sink stopper.

We crunched our bathroom sink stopper when it got between the upper and lower section. I then discovered on our 90 Classic that if you bend over and look at the underside of the faucet there is a small hole where you can fasten the stopper. I used a pretty colored bread fastener. One of those accidential discoveries. A bathroom stopper crunches into pieces and ends up in the garbage can. Thank goodness no damage done. sam

And, if you don't secure the latch on the rear outer storage compartment before dropping your Hi-Lo, the door opens just enough to keep your Hi-Lo from raising. Yes, we did this! Fortunately, nothing was damaged, but it took two golf clubs and a little MacGyver type ingenuity to hold it closed from the inside while someone pushed the button to raise the trailer.

Thanks for the list! Printing and adding to it today!

This list is a MUST have!
You will save yourself a lot of headaches and repair issues by following the list and checking it twice before lowering your hi-lo.
Plus use the additional lines for adaptation to your particular model or anything you notice that may be an issue that isn't mentioned.
It has saved my butt several times!!!!

I keep mine on a clip board in the trlr and is a MUST read and CHECK OFF to lower, no excuses!

I added a few items to my list. I laminated it and use a grease pencil to check off items. Wipe it down and use it again.

Default Wow! Thank you so much

I was just getting ready to put together a list for myself. This is awesome. Is there a way that you might have an enable copy for those of us who have a couple of things to add? I know that I can just write in the spaces you left, but it doesn't look as "Purdy" as the rest of the list. Again thank you!

We have a circular hole almost punched thru the bottom of the cabinet from the previous owner. It is about the exact size of a can of Bushes baked beans.

Default Lowering check list

The PO must have left a pot on the stove when lowering the HiLo. We have a good dent in the vent hood. They also left a corner crunch in the back bumper. Maybe cookie monster took a bite out of the bumper. We also did a few small bloopers.

when I bought my camper, we opened the file FOLDERS (plural) full of all service ever done and manuals. everything you could ever want to know was in there. then inside the camper, they had put laminated index cards at every switch telling what it was and what page it was referenced on in the file. Unbelievable, but has saved my butt several times.

Thanks for the check list. ( Why would you remove the toilet paper, in close up?) Mike
