Candace welcome to the friendliest forum out there.

Many owners have needed help raising and lowering their trlr. Do a search for your issue?

Please be more specific.

Thanks, I am browsing now for a thread with similair issues/questions. Here's my situation: I took the trailer out to the back 40 for a cheap weekend "away". Tested everything out before leaving the house as it was the first trip this year: she went up, she came down! everything was fine we loaded up and headed out. Once I got to my spot, I went to raise and it went about 3/4 of the way up and stopped. Now it wont go up or down even though the motor runs and sounds like it alwasy has. I'm really hoping I didnt damage anything but don't really know where to start my troubleshooting.

Hi Candace; Welcome to the forum. First tell us what year and model HiLo you have. Look between the walls of the top and bottom to see if anything fell between them and has jammed the top from moving. If the pump is still running then it sounds as if the electrical is ok. If the hydraulic fluid were low it would stop going up but would still lower. If you can crawl under the HiLo look to see if a cable has jumped off one of the pullys or a broken pully. Do you know what the guide rod is? If that rod has rusted really bad and collected a lot of road dirt it might be jammed in the ram end plate. The clearance between the guide rod and the hole in the end plate is so small it can jam. If the rod is badly rusted it needs to be cleaned off with emery cloth, cleaned and lubed. There is a manual lowering valve on the Hydraulic pump that should allow you to lower the top unless the top is jammed by something else. Let us know what you have tried and if anything has worked. Also let us know what your abilities are in troubleshooting this problem. I have also sent you a private message.

I will look into these suggestions! I do not know the model, unfortunately. I will try to figure that out and get back to you. I am pretty limited in my abilities, but I am willing to try and learn! I do have my dad to ask for help, also. I have looked down the walls and can see nothing jamming it. After reading some other threads, my first thought was going to be the fluid level, but if you say it should still lower, that wont be it. I will try to lower it manually so I can at least bring it home since I didnt want to move it while it was partially raised. Thanks so much! This forum has already been super helpful!!
