Hello from Charles

Last week I was in Ohio @ a auto insurance auction and I bought a 98 tow- lite camper. The front cables had rusted and broke . I towed it home (300+ miles) with the back raised and the front down. Anyway the price was right and I think I Can repair. Thankfully lots of info on forum

Welcome to the forum.

Towing in the up position is a bad move but you gotta do what you gotta do to get it to where you wanna go.

Parts are available at the following links. Good luck.

Do a search on repairing cables-lots of decent write ups on the forum. I suspect there is a good deal you are going to have to look over to see what is working. I'm thinking It wasn't all the way down in front while being all the way up in back--- I would think there would be binding somewhere in there if one was to try that. Why not post us some pictures?? Take your time- and dont move it around like that anymore. :)

I've had a chance to look at it more closely .For sure it's all the way down on the front resting on the A frame . The rear corner is hung up keeping in from moving. I took a picture at gas station on the trip home I'll try and post it.

So I wonder if the front cable snapped and dropped the front but then the rear could not go all the way down because of the unequal angle. Who knows? Do you know for sure the front cable is broken? Can you crawl under and see that? My guess is you will need to support the back with 2X4s or 2x6s while you jack the front back up to see what you have when everything is level. Do-able. More than a few posts on how to do this- as Sam alluded to. Yes Yes.....post that picture! :)
