Heyy you guyyyss

I recently came across a steal at $300 for a 1985 Hi-Lo Fun Chaser. It needs some TLC, but it is actually in good condition. I look forward to restoring this beauty over the next few months. Thank you in advance for your help! :D

Welcome to the forum

Love the older HiLos. I have a 25ft. Classic that has been restored/fixed from water damage. It is a 1990. We are here for any questions you may have. Check out the operational videos. Some preventive maintenance is required.

My 1984 Funlight for $400

Six months ago I had never heard of a Hilo, however a friend of mine had one sitting in a field and offered it to me for $400...how could I refuse?

Well it had been sitting in the up position for 3 1/2 years and looked like it. Took me 3 days to figure out how to lower it without destroying it and haul it off.

Since then I have repaired extensive interior water damage on both front and rear caps, replaced the 4 vents on the roof, put a Gaco sealant on the roof, removed & resealed all 4 windows after rebuilding the frames due to water damage. Recently I just finished all the clearance and brake lights. I have also performed what I hope is all the maintenance items for the pullies & cables. The first thing I learned about however is the guide rod...make sure you make friends with this thing.

I am now attempting a rewiring of a lot of frayed up wiring. Next will be a rebuild of the black tank. My tank has many large holes. I would normally just buy a new one, however that is not possible since no one seems to have one.

Anyway if you need any help I would happy to let you in on what I know.

wow! You have had to do a lot.

I haven't had to replace my black tank. Only had to repair for a leak. Try this out as a possible link for a replacement black tank. Inca Plastics in California. 1-866-562-7848. Would love to see pictures off your repairs. It is a good idea to remove and remount all of your windows.

When I was up at J&R repair They had quite a supply of new tanks for the HiLos. Contact them to see if they have one for your HiLo or see who their supplier is and what the part number is for yours. I have repaired a number of the tanks thru the years using fiberglass material and ABS cement and never had the repairs fail.
