Your manual is stating the maximum, that is if all conditions are met. Factory tow package, correct axle ratio, etc. Manuals are more or less generic. Use the 1999 tow rating chart.
PopRicthie77,

I'm just catching up on posts and have a question about your statement above regarding weights on titles. In Texas, RV's must exceed a certain dry weight before they require the annual inspection stickers. Our 2406 T falls into that category by just being 25 pounds over the minimum limit. My question is, how does the factory determine the "dry weight"? Does it include a mounted spare tire, empty LP gas tanks, batteries, etc? Is the listed weight on the title set in concrete? Will the DMV accept a weight slip from certified scales as grounds to change the listed weight on a RV?

It is so unhandy to go to the inspection station and it is a wasted $15 'tax". The inspector and I had a nice visit and he checked absolutely nothing except the S/N; no lights, brakes, tire tread, hitch, brake-a-way, etc... Nada! If I thought it would do any good I would take my unloaded trailer and get its certified dry weight and get the title changed.

Anyone else have this problem?

Dry weight does not include any accessories that were options. Even at that the factory weights were no always right on trailers before 2000. Look in any brochure and it says options are not included in dry weight.

I bought my trailer from out of state. When I went to the tax office they told me I needed a VTR-121 form "Travel Trailer or Park Model Trailer Verification", VTR-131 Application for Title Only", and that the inspection was nothing more than a VIN verification because of the size of the trailer. I got to reading it and it said, "TRAVEL TRAILER/PARK MODEL TRAILER LAST TITLED AND
REGISTERED OUT OF STATE
A travel trailer or park model trailer last titled and registered out of state is required to pass a Texas Safety Inspection if the gross weight of the travel trailer exceeds 4,500 lbs., before it may be titled or registered in Texas."
The New Mexico title said it was 4,000 lbs so I didn't have to get it inspected. They gave me my plates and my title came a few weeks later. I hope I didn't miss something!

Thanks for the information RC. I see you have a 2404 T and its weight is 4000 lbs. Does it have a slide out? If so, our 2406 T should be real close in weight to yours and I may pursue getting its weight certified. If you don't have the tilt out, that is probably what makes up the additional weight on our title weight of 4525 lbs. and I'm sure that additional tilt feature and the weight of the couch would probably bring the total trailer weight up to that amount.
