Introduction

Hello,

I am a new owner of an old-ish hi-lo, and since I have read just about every thread on this site I figure it is time to make my introductory post. Before you ask, it is a 1986 Bon Voyage 27F (the one with the king bed in the middle). It sleeps the two of us plus the dogs perfectly. I'm not planning any long trips with it, I purchased it because we mainly camp in the beginning and end of the season.

I have owned the thing a month but it is still sitting in the previous owner's storage where it has sat mostly neglected for 3 years. Last weekend I went to pull away with it, but noticed the tires were the originals with the whitewall and so dryrotted I could almost poke my finger through. I knew they needed replaced but figured I could get it home (10 miles) without a problem, but that's not the case.

In spite of being stored in the up position for the last 3 years, the lift system seems to be in good condition, but the tracks desperately need lubrication. There is some softness in one of the walls from a leak around a window. When it warms up i'll be trying to tackle that repair.

The tow vehicle is a Jeep Commander with the 4.7l v8 and the tow package. I already purchased the weight distribution hitch with a 8.75"! drop. (my JEEP is lifted and run with big knobby tires)

So, Hello! I'm sure I will have some questions down the road. (see what I did there?)

When we got our HiLo the salesman told us our couches would fold out into one big bed. Not true, two single beds. So jealous of your king size bed.Ours is a 90 classic bonyoyage. When you are ready to fix youe leaky window we have done this repair. Welcome to the forum.!!

Yes, welcome to the HTF! Feel free to ask about what you don't understand, but also share what you learn!

Happy camping,

Welcome aboard Antares and congrats on the HiLo. I had to do a little work to mine when I bought it. There were a couple of suspension parts that were worn and some minor maintenance. Mine did have some roof water damage before the second owner that I bought it from, I may tackle that this summer.
I'm sure that you've noticed that the people are genuinely friendly, kind and helpful around here. You're welcomed with open arms so ask your questions and share.
