Another tip for you is Stone Mountain just a little East of Atlanta.
Great place to visit. I've tent camped there at least twice.

Ok, not Ga. but it's in this area that we are talking about.
If you go West from Rome, Ga. about 1 hour later you could be in "Cherokee Rock Village". Here is a link to a thread I did about it.

Our son lives in Rome, Ga and I always enjoy looking at this area and think about camping there someday. Thanks for the links and info.
