I was able to trim 1/4" off the back side of the valance with a circular saw. After I reattached all of the upholstery and mounted the valance again using wall anchors, everything works great!

A well nut is similiar in execution but heavier duty. I origionally used this one for sealing a hole in my fresh water tank that I had drilled. Of course I meant to drill that hole in there....
