I do keep it connected all of the time. I do remove it when I am going to use my trailer. A float charge will not overcharge your battery so you won't get boil over.

That's the same float charger I use. I bought four of them, with a coupon, for $4.99 each. I cut the alligator clips off and put terminal lugs on and use the wing nuts on the battery to hold them in...
