OK, LED's will only work when connected positive...

OK, LED's will only work when connected positive to positive, and ground to ground. Diodes only allow current flow in one direction, unlike regular light bulbs. I'm sure you have already figured...

Try hooking the LED's to an other power source to...

Try hooking the LED's to an other power source to make sure they work and also make sure the polarity is correct.
