Just caught a lucky break! Found a 2002 17 ft HI LO not far from where we live. Price was on point. Great condition! Picking it up tomorrow! Its small but will work fine for just the two of us!

Congrats have had my 06 22ft towlite for 11 years best trailer ever been all over with it and have done many mods what are you towing with?
Most important to look at is the 12 volt charging line to it to charge batteries and run the 12 volt refrigerator you need 16 amps to run refrigerator and want 10 amps to charge batteries while towing With newer trucks some have variable voltage alternators with my Silverado I had to add a dc to dc charger for the above to work that’s why I was asking what you are towing with |
Congrats ENJOY any ??????? somebody knows on this site

We have a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. Will have to look into the battery. The battery on the unit is older, will be replacing it. Thanks for the information!

The easiest thing to do is run a 8 ga wire with a 30 amp auto reset circuit breaker from your alternator back to the trailer battery don’t use the stock wiring I had a small charge line on my last truck which was a Toyota which only gave 5 amps with the factory charge wiring Was ok to trickle charge while towing but not enough to run the refrigerator also while towing( can’t run refrigerator on gas while towing because with hi lo in lowered for towing it closes off refrigerator gas vent) |
I use two group 27 12 volt deep cycle batteries on my trailer I had to build a larger battery box to make them fit

Thank you for the information!! Will check it out

Les, I have a 2015 Silverado crew cab Z71. How would I know if it has a variable voltage alternator?
Also, what materials did you use for the custom battery box? That’s a great idea. Tom |
