We are thinking of buying a HI LOW in the near future. Was wondering if it is difficult to find replacement parts? Also how do you deal with storage? From the photos we have seen, there does not seem to be much storage space for clothing, ect. What size is the overhead bunk? Does any one use it? Watched a video on You Tube where the unit had the heater under the sofa bed, he turned it on and it was pretty loud. Has anyone had to rebuild the roof on one of these? Thanks.

Best storage advice is to pack plastic totes and store inside trailer as there is only a small storage area in the bathroom area, depending on your model.

I've never noticed excessive noise from my heater but now I'm gonna pay attention next time I fire it up.

The unit in the video was an older model. The guy in the video picked up the sofa cushion, and showed the heating unit that was underneath. Would not be an issue for my husband, since he is pretty much deaf, lol. The sofa in the unit he was showing looked small, yet the overhead bunk looked big (although from what I have read of the descriptions, on the "for sale postings" it states the bunks are XL twin?) Hard to tell from most of the photos. I could deal with the lack of storage space, since it would just be my husband and myself. So that is not a deal breaker.

I have had two classic models. Both have had ample clothing storage. Some of our members have shared storage modifications. The drop down bunk would sleep two small children. Probably not good for over 125lbs. 90% of the parts are available RV parts and can be sourced from RV stores or on the internet. The HiLo specific parts can be purchased from J&R in OHIO. Both of my HiLO's have been coated on the roof. Externabond tAPE WAS USED TO ADDRESS ANY LEAKS/SOFT SPOTS. Several of our members have boughten water damaged units and have done roof rebuilds. Any RV can have roof leaking. Be vigilant and watch your calk. Check twice a season. Use the chercklist when checking out a unit to buy. Probably have more for sale in the spring. They are a dream to tow. Welcome to the forum.

Wife and I bought a 1990 229L (22 ft) model 2 1/2 years ago and would not want to part with it. Can store it in our driveway. I actually enjoy working and messing with it when we are at home. Not that hard to work on. I did replace the roof on mine last year ( did it myself). Spent about $800. but also replaced both both skylights and the tv antenna while I had roof off. They really do tow like a dream. Not long ago we had a tire blow out at 70 mph and didn't even know it until a couple pulled up beside us and were pointing, waving and honking. Happened to be a new tire at that. Right there is one reason also that I like a tandem axle trailer.
The propane heater on ours in under one of the dinette seats and is extremely quiet. Luckily, we have a choice of using the optional heat on our A/C unit which is nice and saves our propane. Our water heater is more under the couch up in the front and you can hear it when it is firing.. One of the first things that I did was to remove the entire top bunkbed and give it away to a camper in Arizona. Gave us more head room and opened things up. At my age I am never going to be caged up in a camper with small kids.
We are usually on a trip for 7 to 10 days, pack light and most all RV parks have a laundry.

We have had a 1999 and a 2006 classic 23 c and Joel at Midget RV had replaced almost everything on the 2006 and now he has our 2008 classic 28c and redoing everything and have no problem with parts get from Midget RV & Trailer Service (HiLo Specialist)
