Desperately seeking 2006-2009 17 Towlite

My wife and I have been camping in an A-frame for the past two years and want to upgrade to a unit we can walk around in while towing with a low center of gravity. We have a 4-cyl Subaru that can tow 2750 lbs so a 17 ft hi-lo from 2006-2009 is about all we can tow. We can go anywhere in North America to pick it up.

Reburroughs, The only NADA specs I could find is a 17' Tow Lite and it weighs 2500 Lbs. Throw in all the accessories, gear, food, gas, people etc and you'll find that you will exceed the limits of your Subaru. It will be like the tail wagging the dog! Sorry.

Reburroughs, where in Fl. are you? I'm in Bonita Springs.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Treeclimber. A 17' Towlight would be too much for your Subie. We had a 1705T and towed it with a 2002 Explorer/V6 that had a tow rating of 3500 pounds and it struggled at times. Going down a flat straight road it was okay but going up hills and acceleration was a bit different. The dry weight was probably closer to 2900 to 3000 pounds. Add a second battery, bunk, dual 30#LP tanks, A/C, etc.

You must remember that everything you add to the tow vehicle over just the driver deducts from your towing capabilties. Vehicle manufacturers like to leave out the dirty details about reality of towing.

Sorry to hear that. Oh well. I guess I will never make it to senior member here.

Reburroughs, sure you will, just keep looking! Took me four years to find my 24'er then I had to get a tow vehicle to handle it.
