contemplating buying a 17 foot hi-low - HELP
 

Hello all,

I am looking to buy a travel trailer and have the opportunity to buy a 17 foot, 1994 hi-low trailer.
Does anyone know how heavy these are - I can't get a straight answer and there is no website anymore.
They are asking $7950 - would that be reasonable? It is in good shape.

Any other tips or ideas you have on these trailers would be gratefully received!!!

I paid $6500 for a 2002 22' in good shape so I would say you have several thousand atleast you can bargain down. As for the weight, go to our reference forum and find your model year brochure. It should answer all of your questions.

I just looked at the brochure and the 1994 17T weighs in dry at 2690 lbs. Loaded up for camping should approach 3300 lbs so it looks like you would be way overweight.

The NADA website has the blue book value for Hi-Lo's still.

I just bought a 1987 20' funmaker for 3300.00 in very good shape. It does need an awning, which I am still trying to find.

I bought a 1995 21 ft Tow-Lite for $4000 4 years ago. The guy selling it had it listed for $7000 for a month and just wanted it gone, but $8000 sounds way too much to me.

I got a 2007 Towlite 19ft for $10,000. That was right around book value. I'd shop around.

I do not know much about these Hi-Lo trailers but that price seems high to me. I just bought one today and paid $3000 for a 1993 21' fun-lite with a brand new full awning on the front, and 3' on the back and it had the entire roof, white water tank, and propane fridge all replaced in the last two years. (It did not have any water damage but a wind storm or tornado bounced an aluminum shed off of the top of it while it was down). My only concern with these trailers is the reliability of the high low mechanism but the one on this trailer seems to function fine for now.....knock on wood (Or wood by-products if you are in the Hi-Lo). This is my first RV so lets hope for the best.

The lift system is pretty reliable as long as you do a little preventitive maintenance, like lubing pulleys and cables, guide rod, rails.
