Does lights only work on battery?
 

We've just purchase a Hi-Lo and we did it from a private owner and not a dealer. All the information on operation was not made available to us.

We have found that even when plugged into power, the lights still operate on battery. Are we missing something? The 3 position switch located in the panel with the lift switch, only seems to work in one position and that just for the battery.

By the same token, do the outlets only operate when they are plugged into power?

Just looking for a little help here. Love these trailers but no so sure how to use them.

Welcome to the forum. If I remember right, the three position switch must be in the top position on. Some people have said that their switch is reversed. Check that out first. What year and model do you have? There are several owners manuals posted in the reference library and here is the link to the video manual. Hope this helps.

It's a 2007 Anniversary Addition 23C. It seems that the switch only works in one position. So does that mean that the lights only operate off of the battery?

No. If you are plugged in, you should have power thru the converter. How do you know that it is just operating off the battery?

Everything in the trailer works on 12 volts, including the lights, furnace, vent fan, etc. The convertor will supply power for those when plugged into 110volts. The 110 volt outlets only work when plugged in. You need the charged battery to lift the top and also to supply power to the emergency brake switch. The black switch controls the 12 volt circuits, with exception of the fridge in 12 volt mode, and also the power to the lift depending on what position it is switched to. Up 12 volt, center off, down lift.

Yes the lights only work off battery voltage, ie 12 volts, when plugged in, the converter charges the battery which lets you use the lights, furnace, HWH, waterpump and any other 12 volt appliance. The lights are 12 volt not 120 volt like in a house. The outlets will only work when the power cord is plugged into a 120 volt receptacle at your house or campsite unless you have an inverter which converts 12 volts into 120 volts which you or the previous owner would have had to add. converter changes 120 volts into 12 volts. Did I confuse you yet.:o

The appliances have separate manuals. You may find them in the Forum reference library on go to the the appliance manufacturer's website and download them. They are good to keep handy.
