Interior Reveal
 

I am so excited, I can barely contain myself! After 10 months of demolition, repair, rebuild, repaint, reupholster, replace, refinished, resnap, and redecorate, we get to show you our big interior reveal.

We make a great team. Joe is so talented and can rebuild anything. I had ideas knocking around in my head that Joe went along with. He tolerates my obsessive drive and had faith in my vision to completely revive Myrtle. Down to her new snaps, she's a real beaut!

We could not be more pleased and proud with the results of our hard work.

The guidance and advice on this forum has been an integral part of our success. Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom.

Success with custom 1" aluminum mini blinds from Home Depot by Hampton Bay. We had to go with the wands because the head rail was just a tad over 1". The headers on wandless tilt blinds were too big.

One last must do before we can take her out: just received a package with all new outside, window seals. As you know we pulled out all the windows and resealed with butly tape. But we need to replace the actual window seals around the glass.

We are moving onto Myrtle's exterior. DH bought a three step process to 1) remove the oxidation, 2) polish, and 3) wax. It's making a big improvement and brightening up the fiberglass. We are using Meguiars fiberglass restoration kit.

We started on the endcaps and couldn't resist playing with some of the decals we bought to match our truck.

I Like the way that turned out, very nice. Is that one of the decal kits on Amazon or somewhere similar? Nice color matching there too with the truck too.

Thanks very much. We ordered a kit from e-Bay from broadstreetdecals. They worked with us to replace one color to compliment our truck. The kit cost $125.

Electrical Lift System Resolved
 

We've been troubleshooting why our Hi-Lo stopped raising and lowering unless it was plugged in to AC power. Here's what we came to understand:

1) We replaced the 30 Amp/12V breaker in the pump/battery compartment. Did not resolve the situation.

2) Battery would not hold a charge. The charge would weaken after it was recharged to full. We took it in to be tested and it failed. We're replaced the six year old battery.

3) After installation, the DC voltage on the new battery never exceeded 12.6 even when connected to AC and continued to gradually fall. We knew our new battery was not taking a charge from the converter.

4) Tested the output of the converter and it was only showing 10.68V while still attached under a load. We removed it to test it when it was not under any load, and it increased to 14V. We knew something was wrong with the converter.

5) After a lot of searching, we found the two inline fuses close to the front hitch. One was blown.

6) We went to our local RV Sales and Parts store to buy a new fuse and brought the converter with us. We were told that the converter was failing because of the decrease in voltage when under a load causing it to fail to recharge the battery.

7) Replaced the fuse and installed the new converter. EUREKA! SUCCESS! CARTWHEELS!

Turns out it was two separate issues:

1) The blown inline fuse was interrupting the circuit needed to employ the 12V system to raise/lower the camper.

2) The converter was failing to recharge the battery and the old battery was worn out and on its last leg.

Good news - with all the information on this forum, we were able to find valuable resources and guidance to troubleshoot and repair the electrical system. Thank you!

Not only does she look great now, but our 25 year old camper works like a charm.

Since I'm obviously in a list mode, here after some other, fun tidbits from today:
1) Finally replaced the lens to the outside handle. What a relief!
2) Covered the furnace vent to keep out muddobers.
3) Replaced the trim along the roof edge - the old was split and sloppy looking. Looks so tidy now.

It was a great day!

Finishing touches - storage tips
 

Spent the weekend packing Myrtle with our belongings to gear up for our first outing next weekend. Thought I'd share some of our final touches to help with storage.

(Sorry, some of the pics rotate. )

I use a collapsible, hanging shelf that fits nicely in the unused shower area. I hung it with a tension rod that can stay put when raising and lowering. When we pack up, I can slide it to the left which gives plenty of room to stash our camp chairs and camp rug. That gear fits perfectly in the tub when lowered.

I also added a 4 prong hook that is attached to the ceiling with the screw that holds the shower curtain rail in place. See the two elephant hooks I mounted next to the mirror. They are shallow enough against the wall. I added one above the the entry, too, to use for keys or a cap.

In my "pantry" I use long, baskets to get to foods stock easily, plus small tiered shelving to maximize space in other cabinets. I don't like loose stuff floating all over so these $1 baskets are tucked all over.

One of the beautiful features of our 22L Classic is the abundance of storage areas. We have everything we need to manage comfortably and then some.

Congratulations on your remodel. Your HiLo looks amazing! I just bought an old 1987 20' Funlite. It's in really rough shape and mostly gutted out by the previous owner. But after looking at your camper, it has got me motivated and excited of what it could look like. Thank you for sharing, stay safe, and I hope you have many wonderful trips ahead of you.

May you have many relaxing and memorable trips. Something to consider. We also store some things in our bath tub. I got a piece of Exterior plywood and stained and finished it up. I fastened it to the tub with Heavy Duty velcro. Then I can set a dry food tote and our laundry bags on top of the board. We don't use the shower. Dh removed the bath tub faucet and hose. Our HiLo dealer had some plumbing piece that is installed under the trailer to shut the water off. Kept bumping the faucet and would get water on the plywood. I was able to get at the dollar store some containers for organizing. Used some plastic cold cut containers (recycling).

Hey Sam, thanks for the tips. Yea, my tub serves as a great closet. I love all the places to stash things and keep our place tidy.
