2010 front window change

One of the reasons for the new front window and fiberglass end cap has to do with the problems with the ABS material cracking in the older models. Our 1705T had this problem at the top corners. If you have the ABS end caps keep an eye on the corners and make proper repairs. To stop the crack from getting longer drill a small hole at the very end of the crack then use a good grade of caulking to seal the crack. Drilling the hole takes the stress from the crack and distributes it in all directions, thus reducing the stress in any one direction. This method is used in structural steel, such as bridge beams.

The window sits high enough that it is above most bouncing rocks and debris. I will be able to tell about that theory after we tow our 2310H this season.

The selection of the interior colors is another subject.

One big plus on the 2010 models is the new taillights. They are now LED and very large, plus they added a high level LED stop light. They should be required on all travel trailers.

I suspect the window does sit high enough to avoid most road dirt, stones, etc., but I'd be extremely careful when washing this window. My experience with windshields on motorcycle fairings, causes me to believe this window will scratch very easy if any grit is in the sponge, brush when washing it. Just a word of caution.

Good Idea!! A brush it will be.

I too wondered about the lack of a protective cover on '10 models. Seems like it should at least be an option. I have an '83 with the cover and I'll tell you that the front window is pristine whereas the rest show their age.

Seems like the window would be subjected to stone chips, scratches, dirt and grime, etc. as it's being towed. Like the protective cover on the 2009 and earlier models. Also, pretty funky fabric on the cushions. Makes you wonder who's approving the fabric choice! Not very appealing. Just our opinion!

The lack of a protective cover might make me not buy a 2310. Our 1997 18' Towlite has been through the mill and the front is really beat-up but the window is perfect, thanks to the cover. Replacing the plexiglas has to be expensive. I would have to design and fabricate a proper cover. That is asking a lot after paying $30K.

They need a front cover to protect the window from the gas bottle cover. Our 2310 has a mark worn on the front window after about 160 miles. There is not enough clearance between the cover and the window to prevent the cover from rubbing while bouncing down the highway. Hi-Lo has determined that having the standard cover along with the optional power tongue jack makes the cover sit to close to the window. IMO, It is mostly to do with the design of the new style cover being wider at the top front and back which puts the cover closer to the window. I really like the cover because it has a top hatch to access the valves on the propane bottles. Hi-Lo is going to send us an optional fiberglass cover that is not as large as the standard cover and has offered to replace the window. I want to see how the cover works before doing anything with the window replacement. It is not that noticeable presently and normal road dings may blend in over time.
